If advertising has taught us anything, it is that connecting with consumers in a real way that encourage not only action, but change is the way to go. Leading the pack in influential advertising and marketing with a message is beauty company Dove. For over 10 years Dove has been leading the conversation on what it means to be “beautiful” while directly pushing product that cater to women of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds.

What started as a conceptualized photography exhibit quickly morphed into a the Dove Campaign For Real Beauty. This conversation focused on Dove’s quest to understand what women, not board members, defined as “real beauty”. Dove’s highly successful campaign continued to expand to include not only women, but young girls, focuses on self-esteem and traditional gender roles.

Although the authenticity of these campaigns, especially from the viewpoint of company whose end goal is to obviously make money, has been questioned, Dove continue to shape and mold their brand as one that it in tune with today’s women.
